Linda Bong Linda Bong, 25, comes from Indonesia. She is a teaching assistant of Beginning Indonesian I and a non-degree student at the College of Journalism and Telecommunication at the University of Florida, in Gainesville, Florida. Linda is taking two classes this semester, Writing for Mass Communication and Writing and Reporting for Interactive Media. As part of her Interactive Media class projects, she has to create her own blog. Her blog is covering gay right issues, mainly opposing President George W. Bush (http://gogaybush.blogspot.com). Her class homepage article covers the presidential issues of this year’s election. For these two classes, she has to conduct some interviews, a skill she would like to use and ultimately refine in the future. She considers interviewing as the most fun part of journalism. Linda has taught English for various Indonesian, Korean and Japanese individuals for 6 years; and has 4 years experience teaching Indonesian for expatriates living in Jakarta. She has had a privilege of meeting people from all over the world and practices her English. Linda has 6 months of experience in radio. She worked for an independent news radio called Radio 68h, in Jakarta, Indonesia. She was an assistant editor for a news program of Asia Calling. The show is an hour-long news program covering Asia Pacific region. It broadcasts 30 minutes in English and 30 minutes in Indonesian. She translated scripts, produced and delivered a section of the news. Linda also worked as a freelance interpreter and once worked for an NPR correspondent in Jakarta, Indonesia.
