German Visbal, born in Barranquilla, Colombia, came to United States in 2000 to pursue a professional career in Journalism. German is a Telecommunication news and Political Science major at the University of Florida. His passion for journalism began long time ago in his beloved country where he worked for a local radio station.
German graduated from high school in Colombia in 1998. Then, when he came to United States, he lived in Miami two years, where he attended Miami Dade Community College. In the year of 2002, he obtained his AA degree.
While attending college, German worked at the school’s newspaper, The Catalyst, where he learned the basics for newspaper writing. German has also worked for the University’s radio station ,Classic 89 FM 89.1. German’s dream is to become a professional and to inform the public accurately, and precisely.
German’s favorite hobbies are reading, playing soccer, dancing vallenato music, and eating fried fish with “patacones” and cocoa rice at any Colombian beach. His favorite books are “La Ultima Oportunidad,” and “ Volar Sobre el Pantano,” by Carlos Cuathemoc Sanchez. His favorite movie is Rocky IV, and his favorite soccer team is his beloved Junior which is Barranquilla’s professional soccer team.
German thinks moving to United States has been a wonderful experience. He learned more about a new culture and met people from all over the world.
After he graduates form University of Florida, German plans to go back to Colombia and work as journalists.
