There are more than half a million international students who left their home countries to pursue an education in the United States.

While these students bring diversity and new experiences to American educational institutions, not many people understand the sacrifices and expenses international students carry with them during their time of study.

High tuition rates and government policies have great financial impacts on the students, but a degree from an American university, which is considered prestigious in their home countries, is worth the few years of struggles.

Education costs in public schools are much higher for International students. Compared to an American student who pays $3,370, the average annual tuition cost for a foreign undergraduate student attending the University of Florida is $17,840. This graph shows most students use their personal funds to pay for their education.
