Syllabus Projects Course Information Weblog

Each week there are approximately two assignments, if not more, due.

Most exercises are due via e-mail at 3 p.m. before class starts -- but this is not always the case. Always check the requirements & due section below for every assignment. Work handed in late is not accepted.

Exercise
Weekly Weblog Entries
Description
Make 2 weekly blog entries.
Requirements
Pick your best 2 posts of the week for this assignment. The graded posts must be on different days. If you have two great posts on one day then you must pick the best & submit a different post for your 2nd entry.

An acceptable post will contain:

  • 200 – 350 words
  • No errors (spelling, punctuation, etc.)
  • At least 3 links to relevant information or online articles
  • Working links to archive system (within post & on sidebar)
Remember blogging ethics: don't completely alter an item after it is posted & give credit to other bloggers where due (credit ex: "found via Tim").

Turn in this exercise by sending an e-mail Professor Trammell [ ktrammell@jou.ufl.edu ] with the subject line “Week 5 Weblog Posts” & paste the post URLs in the body of the e-mail. Sign the e-mail with your full name.

NOTE:Late submissions will not be accepted. All e-mail messages must be received by 3 p.m. Any submission received after 3:01 p.m. is considered late.

Purpose
This will help you find interesting information on the Web, practice web writing techniques & become an expert in your area.
Context
Your current & updated weblog will serve as resource for other journalists interested in your topic.

The assignment description and requirements on the Web site supercede the written syllabus passed on the first day of class.
